The Twelfth Annual Virginia Beach Tuna Tournament Is Here!
Established in 2005, the Virginia Beach Tuna Tournament has become a huge fishing tradition in Virginia Beach. June 22nd the 12th annual Virginia Beach Tuna Tournament kicks off at Marina Shores. As always there will be 4 nights of parties, with live music, great food and great drinks. The tournament is 100% payout, and last year’s payout was $127, 650 with 88 boats registered. Anglers will be pursuing yellowfin, bluefin, big eye tuna, true long fin albacore, blackfin tuna, dolphin and wahoo. Fishing must take place between 7:30 am and 3:00 pm each day. Weigh-ins will take place from 4:00 pm to 7:30 pm at both marinas. Audiences are welcomed. Also this year is the 1st Annual Jase Connor McNulty Junior Angler Award at the 2016 Virginia Beach Tuna Tournament. Jase Connor McNulty the son of Connor and Keri McNulty passed away unexpectedly in December of 2014. Jase loved the outdoors and other kids which is why the McNulty family feels this award is perfect to honor his reminiscence. The junior angler with the largest fish of any qualified species including dolphin and wahoo will be awarded the prize. The award will be presented to the angler thirteen years of age and younger. The awards banquet is Saturday from 6:30 p.m. to midnight.
